It’s Mental Health Awareness Month! We are sharing photos in social media of #everydaymentalhealth activities we can do to enhance our mental health.
Take a nap. Napping provides many benefits like relaxation, reduced fatigue, increased alertness, improved mood, improved performance, including quicker reaction time, better memory and enhanced ability for learning. Researchers have found that taking a short nap when you are tired can provide same benefits as an eight-hour sleep period. Naps between 15-30 minutes allows people to feel rested without entering into a deep sleep.
How can I get into the habit of napping?
1. Listen to your body when you are tired and take a brief nap if you are able to
2. Take a few minutes during your lunch break to take a nap
3. Nap during the weekend (alone or with your family)
4. Instead of going around the office to chat with colleagues, reserve your time for a few minutes of nap
5. Schedule a nap in your calendar
6. If you use public transportation for work and school, set your timer for a brief nap
